Abbey National Group's response to the Sandler Review is to seek more answers to more questions thrown up by his recommendations on savings products and the future rule of independent distributors and advisers of financial products.
Abbey says it sees the UK's banks taking on a bigger role as a result of the recommendations, but not before a number of issues are clarified through further consultation.
The possibility of commissions and the definition of "independent" outlined in yesterday's report in relation to the future role of IFAs in particular need to be determined, Abbey says.
Meanwhile consumers and industry will have to wait for the process of reform to move forward to its final stage.
