Clearer information about with-profits increases consumer confidence, Legal & General says.
L&G latest research shows that over 90% of their customers said that they were happy with their choice of bond after receiving more 'down to earth' investment information.
This follows L&G's the creation of the "plain English style" leaflet - explaining how with-profits bonds work, how the underlying assets have performed and how this in turn affected their bonus - sent out alongside the company's annual statement.
Before the leaflets were sent out, over one in five customers were unhappy about the prevailing "investment climate", leaving them undecided about their satisfaction with their choice of investment.
But after receiving the "plain English style" document, almost all of these "undecided" customers were happy with their choice.
Product manager for Investment Bonds at L&G Mick Townsend says:
"We believe that overall satisfaction with an investment into a With Profits Bond will be enhanced by a clearer understanding of how with-profits works and how its underlying assets are performing.
"Our plain English consumer guide Investing in with-profits - start here' helps our advisers explain the basic features of this popular form of saving in straightforward terms to customers before they invest their money," adds Townsend.
