L&G Investment Management (LGIM) has hired managers for its Linked Pension Equity and UK Equity Small Companies funds.
Robert Churchlow, formerly head of UK institutional equities at Invesco, has been appointed senior fund manager responsible for the Linked Pension Equity fund. Churchlow has also worked at Provident Life and Royal & SunAlliance Investment Management, where he ran UK funds. Richard Penny, former manager of UK Small Companies at M&G Investment Management, joins the group in the role of senior fund manager for L&G's UK Equity Small Companies fund.
The fund has returned -27.7%, after charges, over the 12 months to 10 February, against a UK Smaller Companies sector average of -32.4%, to rank 16 in a field of 70. The appointments are part of the group's plans to boost its active equity funds alongside its index-tracking and active bond fund offerings.
