Investec Asset Management has strengthened its UK Equity Income Team, which saw the departure of Chris Burvill to Gartmore earlier this year, with the appointment of Peter Lowery.
Lowery has joined as deputy fund manager to support Alastair Mundy, who runs the Investec Cautious Managed fund on which Burvill had been lead manager. Mundy also manages the Capital Accumulator fund of zeros.
Lowery joins from Old Mutual Securities, where he was an associate director on the UK mid and small-cap institutional sales team. Prior to Old Mutual, he was with UBS Securities.
Nick Mottram, head of equities at Investec Asset Management, said: 'Since the departure of Chris Burvill, we have been actively searching for an appropriate replacement and assistant to Alastair Mundy.'
In addition to the hiring of Lowery, Investec has taken on David Liddell as an analyst.
