Following the departure of Japan fund manager James Salter from Bonfield Asset Management, Dominic McEwan will now run his portfolios.
Salter, who worked at Martin Currie and Schroders before going to Bonfield, is joining Tim Woolley and Brian Ashford-Russell at investment boutique Polar Capital. While at Bonfield, Salter co-managed the Bonfield Japan Growth fund with McEwan, an offshore Cayman Islands fund listed in Dublin, and the Bonfield Japan Hedge fund. Salter's arrival at Polar Capital is set to herald new product launches.
John Bonfield, who manages the $16m central and eastern European Bonfield Longbow fund with Dominic Jennings, intends to remain with the group.
Paul Boughton, sales director at Bonfield, said that all of Bondfield's clients have now been informed of Salter's intention to leave.
