Gartmore has recruited Brian Gallagher as a senior portfolio constructor specialising in split capital investment trusts and income funds.
He joins from Murray Johnstone where he was member of the UK equities team. He joined the group nine months ago and was manager of the Murray Equity Income and Murray Blue Chip funds. Leslie Robb, chief investment officer at Murray Johnstone, said he was disappointed to see Gallagher leave and is looking to replace him with an external appointment. In the meantime Doug Thomson, head of UK equities, and Robin Weir, investment manager, will assume Gallagher's responsibilities.
At Gartmore Gallagher will be managing split capital trusts from the group's Glasgow office. He will work in collaboration with Richard Prvulovich, who joins Gartmore on 2 May from Investec Guinness Flight, and Glenda Horn who has worked for Gartmore for four years. As a senior portfolio constructor, Gallagher will play an active role in the day to day selection of investments.
