Credit Suisse Asset Management is touting its newly launched Polar Capital Japan Fund as one of its big-hitters to come following its promotion into the Credit Suisse Constellation Fund as well as to their Multi-Manager Japanese Portfolio.
Managed by James Salter, the fund is described as "value at the right growth" focusing on top-down sector analysis and attempts to grow by using after-hours trading and incentivisation when Japanese markets are closed.
Robert Burdett, Joint Head of Credit Suisse Multi-Manager Services explains:
"Like many other 'boutique' houses, Polar Capital provides incentivisation, closely aligning the interests of the fund manager with the investor. Polar Capital Japan is also a smaller and therefore nimble fund, allowing swift implementation of ideas: James is able to act very rapidly and, for example, uses the OTC market regularly to deal on news and effect trades quickly when the Japanese market is closed. James is also in close contact with officials at the Bank of Japan which helps to give him a unique insight into future developments for the economy."
