Legal & General is to offer consumers and intermediaries term assurance online.
Following a pilot project launched with a group of intermediaries over the past year, the company is now ready to go live with the service. The consumer version of the site is available now, while IFAs can expect to use the facility by the end of the month.
Diane Buckley, e-commerce development director at Legal & General, said following feedback from the pilot, the intermediary version of the site will contain additional functions.
She said: "The advisor site will also include critical illness cover, terminal illness benefit, waiver of premium, indexation and convertible term assurance. The IFA will be able to save and retrieve all the information that has been entered on the site."
The website will also allow brokers to print off acceptance letters for their clients. "It will be a completely paperless process, even including the direct debit instruction," said Buckley. The service will be available via Legal & General's own website but the company is also planning to launch the service in conjunction with The Exchange.
