Tony Hobman has been appointed as the Occupational Pensions Regulatory Authority's (Opra) new chief executive.
Hobman has held several senior appointments in both private and public sector organisations and within the financial services arena, such as Barclays Bank, ProShare, where he was Head of Investor Services and chief executive as well as ceo of the Money Channel and has recently been working as a private consultant.
As with all OPRA positions, authorisation of his appointment had to be approved by Alistair Darling, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.
The majority of financial advisers (85%) believe the number of self-invested personal pension (SIPP) providers will continue to fall in the coming year, according to Dentons Pension Management research.
