By Ginny Sennett Michael Hughes has been appointed chief investment officer at Baring Asset Management (BAM) with immediate effect. He succeeds David Brennan who has been acting CIO, combining this role with that of chief executive officer of the investment division. Hughes joined BAM in April 1998 from BZW Barclays, where he had been the group economic adviser. Since then at BAM he has been head of the UK & Europe investment management team and a member of the strategic policy group. Michael Manning has taken extended leave from Dresdner RCM Global Investors to take a PhD in economics. ...
