Around a third of FTSE 250 companies are offering defined contribution (DC) pensions to newly-recruited executives, up from just 10% in 2000. A survey by pension consultant Towers Perrin found the trend towards DC pensions among mainstream workers is being mirrored in the executive market. However, government plans for a £1.4m tax-free pensions cap will mean firms may need to move some pension provision into other areas of total rewards, the firm said.
