Legal & General is launching a limited period protected portfolio product which will invest in 30 of the FTSE's 200 best stocks.
Following the success of their first protected portfolio bond, L&G will select equities to be included in the Protected Portfolio II according to capital growth potential, and will include such names as Alliance & Leicester, BskyB, Capita and BT.
At the end of the five and a half-year term, the growth of the 30 shares will be averaged to determine the return of the investor, after each stock has been capped at 100%.
Capital will also be protected during this time, so if share A should increase by 150% and share B by 40%, then the average return that the investor will receive is 70% [(100% +40%)/2].
There is no reallocation of shares during the term of the portfolio and the product is available as an Isa or Pep transfer.
Minimum investment is £1,000, with maximum maximum set at £7,000, or £3,000 on maxi Isa and mini Isas respectively.
