Norwich Union and Abbey National today announced several big changes to management positions as the companies look to put distance between themselves and the ups and downs of the past three years.
Abby has appointed Hugo Thorman as director intermediary propositions, responsible for marketing and developing products and services within Abbey National for Intermediaries.
Thorman's focus will be on Abbey mortgages, Scottish Provident protection, and the James Hay SIPP business, as well as launching Abbey's new "wrap" service for intermediaries later this year.
Norwich Union has appointed Philip Scott, its current chairman of NU Life, to the position of Aviva group executive director for life international.
There he will be responsible for Aviva's continental European and international life and insurance businesses.
Richard Harvey, Aviva group chief executive will also take on a new role from 1 July this year - as non-executive chairman of NU Life.
He will work alongside Gary Withers, who will continue in his role as NU Life chief executive.
Cathryn Riley, current retail director for NU Insurance, becomes managing director of NU Healthcare, taking over from David Rogers, who will be appointed to a new senior role within the group.
Additionally, Aviva's group strategy and development directors - Cathryn Riley and Tidjane Thiam - will join the NU Life board.
"The changes we have announced today bring a new breadth of experience to our UK life board as we continue to develop our business during a period of significant change in the industry," says Gary Withers, chief executive at Norwich Union Life.
