Sir John Kerr has been appointed a director of the Scottish American Investment Company with immediate effect. Kerr was head of the Diplomatic Service from 1997 to 2002, having joined in 1966. His career, which included a period in HM Treasury, has included appointments as UK permanent representative to the European Union, British Ambassador in Washington and permanent under-secretary of state at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. He is also a director of Shell Transport & Trading.
