Structured products are rarely used on platforms in the UK but Jasper Thomas, investment funds manager at Aviva Pensions & Investments, says there are more reasons than ever for financial advisers to be considering them in a post-RDR world.

It continues to surprise me how little we see structured products used on wrap platforms in the UK. Even Aviva’s rapidly growing platform has a very small proportion of assets under administration (AuA) in structured products or exchange-traded securities.
