Question: Is a Guaranteed Equity Bond a safer option of investment on a structured product?
Gary Dale - Investec
In simple terms a Guaranteed Equity Bond (GEB) is a structured product. The fact that the word guaranteed has been used suggests to me that the underlying structure is a deposit and this question has been answered already, "Would the panel suggest a Structured Deposit as a safe way of investing?". I would reiterate again that Structured Products come in many shapes and sizes however generally can be categorised into Structured Deposits and Structured Investments and it is imperative that advisers understand the merits of each structure in the same way as they would traditional funds to ensure that best use is being made of them within client's portfolios.
