Howard Chan will move to Pimco's London office in October as ETF product manager to help build its European offering.
Chan joined the company in 2009 as a product manager in the Global Product Management team. Prior to that he worked at Goldman Sachs in its Portfolio Solutions and Global Managers Strategies groups.
In his new role, Chan will be leading the expansion of Pimco's European business, which has been developed in partnership with ETF provider Source.
"He will work closely with Source as well as our internal portfolio management group and our operations and legal teams to build out the ETF offering," says Don Suskind, ETF product manager at Pimco in Newport Beach, California.
"He has a very astute investment background and he understands Pimco's investment process and our investment strategies very well. One of his strengths is understanding fixed income investing and how we invest. Part of his role will be communicating broadly how Pimco is running our ETFs and how that fits in with our investment process and our return outlook."
His arrival in London will help Pimco to accelerate the development of new products. "We have a broader vision for the platform than what is currently offered and Howard will be instrumental in building out the line up and communicating what we do to the markets."
Chan will report locally to Ryan Blute, London-based senior product manager and globally to Suskind.
