WisdomTree has launched an international hedged equity ETF offering access to Europe, Australasia and the Far East.
The International Hedged Equity Fund, listed on NYSE Arca, invests in equities in these regions while hedging currency movements against the US dollar.
The fund achieves this hedged equity exposure by tracking the proprietary WisdomTree DEFA International Hedged Equity index.
WisdomTree president and chief operating officer Bruce Lavine says currency exposure can play a significant role in return. For example in a weak dollar environment, foreign currencies can boost returns, while this can be the reverse if the dollar is strong.
He adds with this ETF, investors have a choice of investing in foreign equities with or without currency exposure.
