Advisers still neglect long-term advice

Two-thirds of IFAs do not account for long-term care within clients' financial planning; according to a survey.

Defaqto's paper Emerging opportunities in long-term care found 61% of advisers do not discuss the topic at all with their clients, few advisers (9%) help clients make long-term care decisions when discussing pension plans, only 5% factor it into their clients' investment portfolios. However, a fifth have recommended immediate care plans. Advisers said the main reason for their disinterest is because they are not licenced or qualified to the level required.
