Last year's Autumn Statement confirmed a harsh reality for many: living longer does not necessarily mean getting to enjoy a longer retirement. George Osborne's proposed changes linking the state pension age with increasing life expectancy will seem like a sensible decision for many. However for those people who would like to retire earlier they will not be able to rely on the state pension as the main source of retirement income.
