Industry must embrace technology or 'face becoming obsolete' - Cicero

Higher income households receptive to tech-led advice

More than a third of consumers would rather ditch face-to-face advice and engage digitally, yet the vast majority of advisers have no plans to offer digital services anytime soon, new research has found.

About 39% of consumers would embrace digital channels for keeping track of their finances, a survey by research agency Cicero found, yet a mere 28% of advisers have plans to digitise within the next two years. At the same time more than three-quarters (78%) of advisers recognise the benefits of technology as a value-add, according to Cicero. The agency surveyed 100 advisers and 500 consumers, and found although it was typically assumed there was less of a need and demand for technology among more affluent clients, higher income households were in fact more receptive to technology-led ...
