One in seven businesses have missed their workplace pension application deadline - up from 1% at the beginning of 2016 - according to research from Aviva.
The provider found that 14% of the businesses applying to it for a workplace pension in the fourth quarter of 2016 had made their application after the staging date had passed. This percentage was up from 1% in the first quarter of last year. The staging date, which is set by The Pensions Regulator, is the date by which companies are supposed to have their workplace pension scheme in place.
