More than two-thirds (71%) of retirement advisers do not see the development of online robo-advice alternatives as a threat to their business models, according to Metlife research.
While confidence was high among the 104 advisers surveyed 22% admitted they saw low-cost robo-advice as a threat to traditional, face-to-face business. Robo-advice and digital technology will play a key role in providing a wide range of choice for savers, said MetLife UK wealth management director Simon Massey. However, he added: "Advisers are right to be confident that they can prosper alongside robo-advice as the value of face-to-face independent financial advice is clear and demonstrated by the potential demand from savers."
