Aviva UK chief Andy Briggs to lead ABI as chairman

Takes up position after October AGM

Aviva UK Life chief executive Andy Briggs is to be the next chairman of the Association of British Insurers (ABI) taking up the role in October.

He replaces Axa UK group chief executive Paul Evans who will complete his two-year term as ABI chairman in the autumn. Briggs (pictured) has been deputy chairman of the insurance industry trade body since November last year and serves as chairman of its audit committee. Briggs held high-ranking positions at Scottish Widows, Lloyds Banking Group and Prudential before becoming group chief executive at Friends Life, which was taken over by Aviva in April 2015.
