MPs launch inquiry into intergenerational fairness at retirement

The Work and Pensions Committee has launched an inquiry into the welfare and pension entitlements of different generations at retirement.

The scope of the work will span housing, financial wealth, public service usage, welfare and pension entitlements. The inquiry will investigate economic and demographic trends along with the extent to which policies like the triple lock system, which protects pensioners' incomes, can lead to disparity between generations. It will consider steps which could be taken to address any intergenerational unfairness.
