DFM: Referring clients to financial planners makes commercial sense

CISI-IFP merger is 'biggest opportunity'

People who have seen financial planners are more likely to invest more and stay invested for longer, Thesis business development director Lawrence Cook has said.

Thesis has a policy of referring prospective clients to advisers where it thinks they need it, and the firm keeps track of which clients it has referred to a planner, why and to which one. Those referred to financial planners are more likely to be 'sticky' investors, putting more money to work for longer and earning the discretionary fund manager more in fees, Cook said.
