Ex-Ignis CEO Chris Samuel joins Alliance Trust board

Alliance Trust has appointed two new non-executive directors, including former chief executive of Ignis Asset Management Chris Samuel.

The appointments follow a lengthy spat between the trust's board and activist investors Elliott Advisors earlier this year, which placed the trust under pressure to appoint new non-exec directors to its board. The investment trust had already given in to the activist investor's demands in April by appointing two new candidates proposed by Elliott to the board.
