Risk-afraid UK investors still desire 8% returns

Optimistic UK investors expect to achieve 8% returns over the next 12 months despite most eyeing low risk-low reward assets for their portfolios, according to research.

The "worrying overconfidence" is also a global phenomenon, with retail investors in Europe and globally anticipating rates of return of 10% and 12% respectively despite few prepared to invest in higher risk assets, according to the Schroders Global Investment Trends Survey 2015. Results gathered from interviews with more than 20,000 active investors in 28 countries, including 1,000 from the UK, suggest UK investors are confident about investment opportunities in the next year - though marginally less confident than European investors - with 51% of respondents stating they are bullish abo...
