Half of defined contribution savers unhappy with pension schemes - research

The majority of pension savers in defined contribution (DC) schemes are not satisfied with their plans, according to research.

Just 45% of UK members said were happy with their schemes, compared to 65% of US savers, the study from State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) found. This discrepancy narrowed when survey participants were asked if they were happy with their employers' involvement; 50% of UK and 54% of US respondents said they were. Savers across both regions showed a distinct lack of confidence in the amount they had saved for a desired lifestyle in retirement.
