Jim Rehlaender, sub-adviser to the Schroder Global Property Securities products, tells Cherry Reynard why retail investors should not be avoiding commercial property.
A recent Towers Watson survey suggested that institutional investors had revisited commercial property after a number of years avoiding the sector. The retail market, in contrast, continues to give the sector a wide berth. In some cases this aversion is well-founded, but the Schroders Global Property Securities fund has managed to avoid many of the problems in the commercial property sector through judicious investments in higher growth markets.
