The fund selection and fund research markets are a major part of the multi-trillion pound investment industry but who are the key players within it?
In the latest in our series of video interviews with the most respected individuals who select funds, decide ratings or otherwise influence the allocation of investor fund flows, we meet Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) fund manager Justin Onuekwusi.
Onuekwusi works within the group's Multi-Asset Funds team, leading on the management of its retail and risk-profiled multi-asset funds. Prior to joining LGIM in August 2013, he was a fund manager with Aviva Investors' multi-asset team combining both strategic and dynamic asset allocation with manager selection in the construction of multi-asset portfolios.
In that role, Onuekwusi was lead fund manager on a range of risk-targeting multi-asset funds and co-lead fund manager on a number of unit-linked life and pension funds, as well as manager-of-manager offerings. A CFA charterholder as well as a holder of the Investment Management Certificate and a degree in Economics from the University of Warwick, he has previously worked as a fund research analyst at Merrill Lynch and an investment consultant for Aon Consulting.
The Investment Influencers series, which has most recently featured Tom Caddick of Santander Asset Management, David Miller of Quilter Cheviot and Rory Maguire of Fundhouse, offers insights into how key industry players see the world of investing and expect to deal with such challenges as greater market volatility, increased regulation and a growing trend towards short-termism.
