The fund selection and fund research markets are a major part of the multi-trillion pound investment industry but who are the key players within it?
In the latest in our series of video interviews with the most respected individuals who select funds, decide ratings or otherwise influence the allocation of investor fund flows, we meet Tom Caddick, head of global multi asset solutions at Santander Asset Management.
In this role, Caddick has overall departmental responsibility, heading up a team of more than 25 investment professionals across five locations with in excess of €21bn (£18.9bn) assets under management and the same again under advice. He is a member of the Santander Global Asset Allocation Committee and UK Management Committee and chairs the UK Investment Committee.
During his 18 years in fund management, Caddick has held several senior fund manager roles. Before joining Santander Asset Management UK in January 2011, he was the head of multi-manager and fund selection at LV=Asset Management where he established the Standard & Poor's A-rated multi-manager department and helped spearhead the group's move into retail asset management. Prior to this Caddick, who holds a BA (Hons) degree in Accounting and Finance, was a multi-asset fund manager at F&C Asset Management.
The Investment Influencers series, which has most recently featured David Miller of Quilter Cheviot, Rory Maguire of Fundhouse and Roddy Buchanan of WH Ireland, offers insights into how key industry players see the world of investing and expect to deal with such challenges as greater market volatility, increased regulation and a growing trend towards short-termism.
