The fund selection and fund research markets are a major part of the multi-trillion pound investment industry but who are the key players within it?
In the latest in our series of video interviews with the most respected individuals who select funds, decide ratings or otherwise influence the allocation of investor fund flows, we meet Rory Maguire, managing director and part-owner of Fundhouse, the independent fund research and ratings provider he cofounded in South Africa in 2007.
Three years later, Maguire launched the UK arm of the business, which provide fund research, portfolio construction and asset allocation services to global institutions and advisers from its offices in Reigate.
Maguire began his investment career in 1997 in London, working mostly for Barclays Global Investors up until 2001, when he joined Investec Asset Management. Then, from 2003 to 2007, he helped build global asset management business RECM, where he was CEO.
The Investment Influencers series, which has most recently featured Roddy Buchanan of WH Ireland, Nathan Sweeney of Architas and Simon Wood of Aberdeen, offers insights into how key industry players see the world of investing and expect to deal with such challenges as greater market volatility, increased regulation and a growing trend towards short-termism.
