The fund selection and fund research markets are a major part of the multi-trillion pound investment industry but who are the key players within it?
In the latest in our series of video interviews with the most respected individuals who select funds, decide ratings or otherwise influence the allocation of investor fund flows, we meet Roddy Buchanan, head of private wealth management at WH Ireland.
Buchanan took on that role earlier this year having joined the firm as deputy head of private clients in 2013. His 33-year career, which has seen him fulfil a number of senior roles focused exclusively within private wealth management, began in 1983 at Capel-Cure Myers, where he ultimately became head of private clients.
After a short spell at SG Investment Management as deputy managing director, Buchanan joined Ansbacher & Co in 2003 as head of wealth management. After seven years, he left Ansbacher to establish a new investment management service for Weatherbys Private Bank.
The Investment Influencers series, which has most recently featured Nathan Sweeney of Architas, Simon Wood of Aberdeen and Ian Crispo of Deutsche Bank, offers insights into how key industry players see the world of investing and expect to deal with such challenges as greater market volatility, increased regulation and a growing trend towards short-termism.
