The fund selection and fund research markets are a major part of the multi-trillion pound investment industry but who are the key players within it?
In the latest of our series of video interviews with the most respected individuals who select funds, decide ratings or otherwise influence the allocation of investor fund flows, we meet Simon Brett, chief investment officer at Parmenion.
Brett, who is also a director of the firm, is responsible for all Parmenion's investment solutions, ensuring every investment is fit-for-purpose. Having been in the industry for more than a quarter of a century, his extensive experience and accumulated knowledge combine to offer an industry-leading investment management capability - as vindicated by his inclusion among the Top 100 Wealth Managers for 2016.
Brett started his career at County NatWest and has since held a number of prestigious positions elsewhere, including head of the mid-cap equity team at Equitable Life, managing £1.5bn. A fellow of the Chartered Securities Institute, he holds an MBA from the University of Bradford and studied Economic Geography in London with a brief spell at George Washington University in the US.
The Investment Influencers series, which has most recently featured Lucy Walker of Sarasin & Partners, Rob Gleeson of FE and Hector Kilpatrick of Cornelian Asset Managers, offers insights into how key industry players see the world of investing and expect to deal with such challenges as greater market volatility, increased regulation and a growing trend towards short-termism.
