The adviser acquisition market is booming, according to recent research. Laura Miller takes a closer look at the rush to exit, and those who are happy hunting.

Almost half of independent advisory firm owners plan to sell up within five years - and 10% in the next year alone - according to the latest poll of 230 IFAs by Harrison Spence. This is a sharp rise on even as little as six months ago. Then, in a poll conducted by the same consultancy, just over a quarter were planning to sell within the next five years and 5% within 12 months. The figures tie with the experience of Alan Hudson, chief executive of independent financial planning firm and consolidator AFH Financial.
