More countries sign up to international tax co-operation

Nine more countries have signed the OECD's Multilateral Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters. Plus 9 others have commited to signing or have ratified the Convention.

The latest countries to sign include Austria, Belize, Estonia, Latvia, Luxembourg, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the Slovak Republic. Commenting on the development, OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría said “In the past 2 years more than 60 countries have signed the Convention or stated their intention to do so, marking an important milestone on the road to closer cooperation and more transparency – to making the international system fair to all taxpayers.” Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam said: “Signing the Convention reflec...
