Financial advisers are typically ill informed about employee benefit trusts (EBTs). It is important to re-address this as a greater understanding will enable a more thorough level of financial advice. It may appear to many that the time when EBTs offered a panacea in terms of tax planning is a long-distant memory. However, although the introduction of the "disguised remuneration" legislation (initially in December 2010, and then fully in April 2011) at Part 7A of ITEPA 2003, has altered perceptions of the usefulness of EBTs, investigation of their use still bears considerable merit. ...
